Ingredients

2 pounds chicken wings

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Sesame seeds for garnish

Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

Prep the Chicken Wings: Rinse the chicken wings under cold running water to remove any residue. Pat them thoroughly dry with paper towels; this is essential for achieving crispy skin during air frying.

Season the Wings: In a large mixing bowl, combine salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Add the chicken wings to the bowl and toss well until each wing is evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.

Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In a small saucepan, mix together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and optional crushed red pepper flakes. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring frequently for about 5 minutes or until it slightly thickens. Once thickened, remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for approximately 5 minutes to ensure optimal cooking conditions.

Cook the Wings: Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to work in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook the wings for 25-30 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time until the skin is golden and crispy, and the internal temperature reaches at least 165°F (74°C).

Toss in Sauce: Once the wings are cooked, transfer them carefully to a large mixing bowl. Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce over the wings, tossing them gently to ensure they are uniformly coated.

Final Crisp (Optional): For wings that are extra crispy, return the coated wings to the air fryer in batches, cooking for an additional 5 minutes at 400°F (200°C).

Serve: Transfer the wings to a serving plate. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for an attractive garnish. Serve immediately and enjoy the delightful blend of sweet and sticky flavors!
