Ingredients

1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

2 cups broccoli florets (can use fresh or frozen)

1 tablespoon olive oil

4 cloves garlic, finely minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup chicken broth (low-sodium recommended)

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning blend

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, adjust based on spice preference)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Fresh basil or parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Sauté the Chicken: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the diced chicken pieces. Season generously with salt and black pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and no longer pink in the center. Once cooked, transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside.

Sauté Garlic and Broccoli: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute, or until it's fragrant but not browned, as burnt garlic can become bitter. Next, add the broccoli florets to the skillet. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the broccoli is tender and vibrant in color.

Make the Cream Sauce: Pour the chicken broth into the skillet, scraping up any flavorful bits stuck to the bottom. Increase the heat slightly and bring the broth to a gentle simmer. Carefully stir in the heavy cream, followed by the Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes (if desired). Allow the mixture to simmer for about 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, letting the sauce thicken to a creamy consistency.

Combine: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet along with any juices collected on the plate. Sprinkle in the grated Parmesan cheese and stir gently to combine. Continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the chicken is warmed through and the sauce is creamy. Taste and adjust the seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or Parmesan cheese, as needed.

Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. If using, garnish the dish with freshly chopped basil or parsley for a pop of color. Serve this delightful dish hot, either over a bed of fluffy rice, al dente pasta, or enjoy it on its own for a comforting meal.
