Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or turkey for a healthier option)

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 bell pepper, diced (choose your favorite color)

1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed

1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (with their juices)

1 cup tomato sauce

2 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp brown sugar

4 hamburger buns

Optional toppings: Shredded cheddar cheese, sliced jalapeños, chopped green onions, sour cream

Instructions

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef (or turkey). Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart into small crumbles with a spatula. Drain any excess fat, then transfer the cooked meat into a slow cooker.

Into the slow cooker with the meat, add the diced onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper. Stir to combine.

Add the kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes (with their juices), and tomato sauce to the slow cooker. Mix everything well to ensure even distribution.

In a separate bowl, combine the chili powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Whisk these spices together until well mixed, then pour this mixture into the slow cooker. Stir thoroughly to blend all the flavors.

Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chili is heated through and the flavors have melded beautifully.

When cooking time is up, give the chili a good stir and taste. Adjust seasoning as desired to suit your palate.

To serve, ladle generous portions of the chili onto hamburger buns. Add your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, sliced jalapeños, chopped green onions, or a dollop of sour cream for extra flavor.

Enjoy your Sloppy Chili Sandwiches while they are warm, delighting in their savory goodness!
