Ingredients

1 cup dried figs, finely chopped

1 cup Medjool dates, pitted and finely chopped

1 ½ cups rolled oats

½ cup almond flour

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (for a vegan option)

1 cup Greek yogurt (or a dairy-free yogurt alternative)

½ cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans are excellent choices)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Base:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped figs and Medjool dates.

      - Add the rolled oats, almond flour, ground cinnamon, and salt to the bowl. Mix thoroughly until all the dry ingredients are well incorporated.

        - Pour in the honey or maple syrup and mix again until the ingredients bind together. The final mixture should feel slightly sticky and should hold together when pressed.

          Form the Base Layer:

            - Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, ensuring there is enough overhang on the sides for easy lifting later.

              - Press the oat and fruit mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the lined pan using your hands or the back of a measuring cup to create a smooth, even layer.

                Prepare the Yogurt Layer:

                  - In a separate mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt with the vanilla extract and stir until smooth and creamy.

                    - Gently fold in the chopped nuts while being careful not to crush them too much.

                      Layer the Yogurt:

                        - Spread the yogurt mixture evenly over the pressed base layer in the pan. Use a spatula to smooth the top until it’s level.

                          Freeze the Squares:

                            - Cover the pan with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and place it in the freezer. Allow it to freeze for at least 4 hours or until the squares are completely firm.

                              Cut and Serve:

                                - Once frozen, lift the squares out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly, which will make slicing easier. Cut into squares and serve immediately.

                                  - Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer where they will keep for up to 2 weeks.

Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 4 hours 20 minutes | Servings: 16 squares

                                      - Presentation Tips: For an appealing presentation, serve the squares on a colorful platter and garnish with a sprinkle of chopped nuts or a drizzle of honey on top. Enjoy your delightful treat!
