Ingredients

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

1 cup whole milk, warmed to 110°F (45°C)

¼ cup granulated sugar

½ tsp salt

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

¼ cup honey

4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (for glazing)

Extra honey, for drizzling on top

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let this mixture sit for 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes foamy and bubbly, indicating that the yeast is active.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt until well mixed, creating a uniform dry ingredient blend.

Mix the Dough: Once the yeast mixture is foamy, add the melted butter, egg, honey, and the yeast mixture to the bowl containing the flour. Stir together with a wooden spoon or spatula until a sticky dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the sticky dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes; it should become smooth and elastic in texture.

First Rise: Place the kneaded dough into a lightly greased bowl. Cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.

Shape the Rolls: After the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release any trapped air bubbles. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces (or larger if you prefer bigger rolls). Shape each piece into a smooth ball by cupping it in your palms and rolling it on the counter.

Second Rise: Arrange the dough balls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, ensuring there is a little space between each ball for expansion. Cover and allow them to rise again for 30-45 minutes, until they are noticeably puffy.

Preheat the Oven: While the rolls are undergoing their second rise, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) so it's ready for baking.

Bake the Rolls: As soon as the rolls have finished rising, place them in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they are beautifully golden brown on top.

Prepare the Honey Butter Glaze: In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter and honey with a spoon until fully combined and smooth.

Glaze the Rolls: Once the rolls are baked and golden, remove them from the oven. Generously brush the warm honey butter glaze over the top of each roll. For an extra touch of sweetness, drizzle additional honey on top of the glazed rolls.

Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy them warm, perhaps with a pat of butter or just as they are!

                            - Presentation Tips: Arrange the dinner rolls on a large platter, with a small bowl of honey on the side for drizzling. For a charming touch, garnish with fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for an aromatic garnish.
