Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

1 red bell pepper, sliced

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 teaspoon sesame oil

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes. This helps tenderize the meat and enhances its flavor.

Sauté the Vegetables: In a large pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Then toss in the broccoli florets and red bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet still crisp. Remove them from the pan and set aside.

Cook the Beef: In the same pan, add the marinated beef (with any remaining marinade) in a single layer. Let it sear without disturbing for about 2 minutes, then stir-fry until browned and cooked through (another 2-3 minutes). If using, sprinkle with red pepper flakes for a bit of heat.

Combine Everything: Return the sautéed broccoli and bell pepper to the pan with the cooked beef. Drizzle with oyster sauce and sesame oil. Toss everything together for 2-3 minutes until heated through and well combined.

Serve: Remove from heat and transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Enjoy: Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
