Ingredients

For the Beef Filling:

1 lb (450g) ground beef

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon chili powder

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

8 small taco tortillas (corn or flour)

For the Avocado Crema:

1 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted

1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

Salt, to taste

1-2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

For Toppings:

Shredded lettuce

Diced tomatoes

Shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)

Sliced jalapeños

Additional cilantro for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Avocado Crema:

    - In a blender or food processor, combine the ripe avocado, sour cream (or Greek yogurt), fresh lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy. For an added burst of flavor, stir in chopped cilantro if desired. Taste and adjust the salt as needed. Set the avocado crema aside.

      Cook the Beef Filling:

        - In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until it becomes translucent and fragrant.

          - Once the onion is cooked, add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

            - Next, add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook it for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until the meat is browned and no longer pink.

              - Stir in the ground cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and fresh lime juice. Cook for another minute to allow the spices to fully integrate into the beef mixture.

                Warm the Tortillas:

                  - While the beef is cooking, warm the tortillas in a separate skillet for approximately 30 seconds on each side, or until they become pliable. Alternatively, you can wrap them in aluminum foil and place them in a preheated oven to warm through.

                    Assemble the Tacos:

                      - Take each tortilla and place a generous scoop of the seasoned beef mixture in the center. Then, top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, and sliced jalapeños.

                        - Drizzle the prepared avocado crema over the top and sprinkle with additional cilantro for garnish if desired.

                          Serve:

                            - Serve the tacos immediately, alongside extra lime wedges for squeezing over the top, and enjoy this delightful spicy feast!

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 25 minutes | Servings: 4-6 tacos

Presentation Tips: Arrange the tacos on a vibrant platter and garnish with lime wedges and additional cilantro for a festive touch. Consider serving with a side of tortilla chips and salsa for an extra treat!
