Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

4 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional for enhanced flavor)

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for spice)

Cooked jasmine rice or noodles, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Mix thoroughly to ensure all beef is coated. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes while preparing the other ingredients.

Blanch the Broccoli: Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Carefully add the broccoli florets and blanch them for about 2 minutes, or until they turn bright green but remain crisp. Drain the broccoli and immediately transfer it to a bowl filled with ice water to halt the cooking process. Once cooled, drain the broccoli again and set it aside.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sesame oil, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes (if desired). Set this sauce mixture aside for later use.

Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer, ensuring it’s not overcrowded. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and transfer it to a plate.

Stir-Fry the Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once heated, add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Stir-fry for approximately 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.

Combine Everything: Return the blanched broccoli and cooked beef to the skillet. Pour the prepared sauce over the mixture, stirring well to coat everything thoroughly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and nicely coated in the sauce.

Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Serve the savory beef and broccoli stir-fry over a bed of jasmine rice or noodles. Finish by garnishing each serving with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and sliced green onions for an added crunch and visual appeal.

                  - Presentation Tips: For an attractive presentation, serve the stir-fry in deep bowls, layering the rice or noodles at the bottom, followed by the beef and broccoli. Drizzle any leftover sauce over the top and finish off with a generous sprinkle of sesame seeds and green onions.
