Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or substitute with ground turkey for a lighter option)

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for an extra crunchy texture)

1/2 cup finely chopped onion

1 clove garlic, minced

1 large egg, beaten

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional, for added freshness)

For the BBQ Sauce:

1 cup ketchup

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a mild heat)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to create the perfect environment for baking.

Mix Meatball Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and parsley. Use your hands or a spatula to mix until all ingredients are evenly distributed and the mixture feels cohesive.

Form the Meatballs: With clean hands, take portions of the mixture and roll them into 1-inch meatballs. Arrange the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper for easy cleanup and even cooking.

Bake the Meatballs: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 20-25 minutes. The meatballs should be cooked through and have a nice golden-brown exterior.

Prepare the BBQ Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, make the BBQ sauce. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, mix together the ketchup, honey, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and red pepper flakes. Stir continuously until well combined, then let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes until it slightly thickens.

Coat the Meatballs: As soon as the meatballs are cooked, take them out of the oven. Carefully transfer the meatballs to the saucepan with the BBQ sauce. Gently toss or stir the meatballs in the sauce until they are fully coated.

Serve: Serve the BBQ meatballs hot, either as a delightful appetizer or alongside a hearty side of rice or creamy mashed potatoes for a satisfying meal.
